Big Ben is not a human being; It is known to many as the clock tower of the Westminster Palace. However, it is actually the nickname for the bell of the clock in the clock tower, named after a guy whose name contains “Benjamin”. The Westminster Palace is actually the Houses of Parliament today. In the past, it was really used as a royal residence. Actually I have nothing much to say about this whole area. Let the pictures do the talking instead. If you want to know more, read up travel guides and wikipedia. 🙂
P.S. I’ve got very lousy pictures due to my lousy hair and face, bad sunlight, strong wind, inevitable passerbys. Sigh..

The itinerary for that day was London Bridge – Tower of London – Tower Bridge – Big Ben/Westminster Palace/London Eye – Harrods, and we were so unlucky!! Some line was down during that weekend, and we had to WALK from Tower Bridge to London Bridge station (to avoid changing too many lines as Tower Hill Station was out of the way) It took about half an hour I think, and along the way it was difficult to find a toilet!!! Alamak… I had to foot water bills leh. In the end, we sought refuge in a bagels cafe where there was a clean one-cubicle toilet… *hee hee*
This was the bagel we shared. It was filling for the both of us as we weren’t too hungry. Tasted so-so leh, can’t appreciate bagels. 🙂 The fillings were ham and cheese.
We arrived at our destination, the Westminster station, (Waterloo station is also nearby) and it was so packed in the vicinity! Really difficult to take a nice picture. 😦
Cannot accomodate the Big Ben tower in this picture, it’s too tall.
This is Big Ben. Somehow this picture looks artistic. Haha..
We’ve read that the nicest view of the Westminster Palace is from opposite the River Thames, i.e. on the other bank of the river. WAH LAO, WALK WALK WALK, we had to walk again lah.
See what I meant, that bridge was how far we walked…. With the wind blowing into my face and hair along the way, how can I remain “swee-swee” (i.e. pretty pretty) to pose in pictures?
Anyway, while walking along the bridge, you will see London Eye. We saved about 15 pounds per person by just taking pictures of it, instead of going on board it. We did not have the time and money to slowly enjoy the scenery. 🙂
Left: Ugly me, blame the sun ok, hard to open my eyes. That’s London Eye in the background. Right: It was super crowded in the area near London Eye.
After some marathon-walking, we finally arrived at the other bank of River Thames. Phew…
Nice, relaxing place with a good view of Westminster Palace. 🙂 Not too crowded.
This is what you will see there… Nice right?
The Big Ben is no longer big compared to our big heads 🙂
Btw, we walked back to the Westminster station to proceed to Knightsbridge where Harrods is. That is to say, we walked back that long bridge’s distance again!!!!!!! SO MUCH WALKING THAT DAY. Humphf!!! @&*d~#%@!#J*(!%$^S
