My aunt drove my parents, my cousin and me down to JB today for a brief shopping and eating holiday. We went to this Chinese Restaurant that appeared quite popular among tourists and foreigners like us. It’s called 北京楼 (Beijing Restaurant). Sorry if I sound very anti-Malaysia or prejudiced against the country, but I used to find Malaysian’s normal coffeeshops and eateries looking rather dirty and run-down. This Beijing Restaurant has a rather normal or plain-looking interior, but the food was good. The place was air-conditioned and every dish was around RM 10 – 20 (smallest portions)? Didn’t pay much attention to the prices, but definitely CHEAP lah! To be frank, they have rather tasty dishes and I must give credit to their fried Meesua (Vermicelli), Herbal Chicken and fried Dao-Hu (Beancurd). No pictures were taken, I don’t know why. I was perhaps too hungry and too eager to complete all the food while they’re hot! Paiseh. Next time when I go there, will definitely tempt you all with the pictures okay.
If you thought Singapore was hot, Malaysia was even worse! I could feel the sun rays building up more freckles on my cheeks and the wind had forgotten to blow towards us. Alamak, really hot and the car was forever in a suana state if the air-conditioner was switched off. Can’t imagine how I can survive in a desert. (Haha… Yh is scolding me as I read out loud this line about “desert”, as I have been pestering him to bring me to Egypt. I will love to see pyramids before my eyes. They have this ghostly and yet mysterious appearance and history about them, which I felt watching TV shows of pyramids do not satisfy my curiosity enough. How nice if a mummy (not my mother) can really walk out from the tombs, like in the movies. So exciting…..)
We went to Jusco for shopping. They have many brands there – Esprit, Guess, Outfitter Jeans, Topshop, Dorothy Perkin’s, MNG, etc. Chey… Clothes and stuffs were not much cheaper than in Singapore. Each item can save only SGD $1 to $5 at most. The selection of goods was about the same, so I was feeling damn bored shopping there. *Yawn*…. Verdict: Our Vivocity is much more happening and fun to shop in!
P.S. My heart was beating quite quickly before we reached Jusco, as my blur sotong aunt actually lost her way there. I thought she will be tearing her hair out and screaming at us as she is a gancheong spider (i.e. nervous wreck) but she was surprisingly very calm! She was slowly driving, keeping to the last lane, to see if she can exit out of the expressway and make a turn back to the expressway (a U-turn). Phew. It was not easy navigating around JB’s expressways. Not easy to U-turn for sure. In the end we stopped 3 times in between, asked for directions, and finally reached our destination. Did a detour and wasted around half an hour or more. So relieved anyway, to reach Jusco safely…
